Sandy Bridge in Tablets

Acer announced yesterday that they will be building in the new Sandy Bridge chip set from Intel into their new tablet computers with Android. They also announced that they are phasing out the netbook, and making their netbook operations smaller.

What will this do to Acer? Personally, I think it might kill them. Acer made the best netbooks, and they became known for good, cheap, computers. I had an Acer Aspire One [the original] before coming up with the money to buy a MacBook, and it was great! It did everything I needed it to do. It had Microsoft Office Pre-Installed on it, so it was the perfect little laptop.

When you think of a hi-performance laptop, or a laptop that you really want, an Acer doesn’t come to mind. Good luck with those tablets.
